Cohiba Siglo IV belongs to the Línea 1492 series and is produced by the El Laguito factory (factory code EL), the strictest and most exclusive manufacturing base in all of Cuba. It was established in 1966 under the direction of Celia Sánchez, originally only for diplomatic and gifting purposes.

The entire Cohiba range is made at El Laguito Factory No. 1, the only top-tier factory in Cuban cigars to implement a full-line Triple Cap standard. Only artisans who have passed Habanos S.A.'s top Torcedor certification are permitted to work on the production line.

The Coronas Gordas format of Siglo IV (46 ring) presents an intermediate level of production challenge: the bunch must be evenly compressed to ensure that no plugged points appear in the airway throughout the full 143mm length, and the ash must be able to remain stable at 2-3cm during the second third without collapsing.
