Why Can Tea Pair With Cigars?

3 reasons:

1. Tannin Echo

Tea leaves contain tea tannins (tannin), and cigar tobacco leaves contain tobacco tannins. When the two combine, they create a tannin synergy effect - the mouthfeel becomes rounder, and bitterness is reduced.

Red wine and whisky rely on barrel tannins to pair with cigars. Tea tannins are equally powerful.

2. Palate-Cleansing Ability

Tea can clear the tobacco oils from the mouth - allowing your palate to reset for the next puff of the cigar.

This is something alcohol cannot do - rum and whisky only "add flavor"; they do not "cleanse flavor".

3. No Alcohol Burden
