評分方法 · 本評分為 W Cigar Bible 依據品牌歷史、國際能見度、產品穩定性、收藏討論度與華文市場辨識度綜合整理,非投資建議或銷售推薦。

Guantanamera was officially released by Habanos S.A. on September 14, 2002 at the "Intertabac" trade fair in Dortmund, Germany--the first completely new Habanos brand of the 21st century. In October of the same year, it opened to international markets.
Guantanamera is the only fully machine-made global brand in the Habanos system--all other modern Habanos cigars are handmade. Fully machine-made (mecanizado), all short filler, all Vuelta Arriba tobacco--it is the representative of "modern low-priced Cuban cigars".
Guantanamera 20 Aniversario 2022 (20-stick metal tin, Cristales Mano format)--the brand's 20th anniversary commemorative release in 2022--special "20 Aniversario" cigar band and plastic tube packaging. It is the only commemorative release in the brand's history.
Guantanamera Décimos (4¾" × 40, vitola: Cremas)--the brand's core regular production--the name comes from the "ten-line stanza (décimos = ten poems)" in the song "Guantanamera". The Cremas ring gauge and length are close to Robusto--it is the brand's most distinctive and strongest size. 35-45 minute experience, mild but with spice, coffee, cedar, and umami.
Guantanamera Minutos (4.3" × 43, vitola: Minutos)--released in 2005, the brand's youngest member, and the most popular size among players. Slightly shorter and thicker than other brands' long-filler Minutos. 25-35 minute experience. Honey/caramel, light grain, fresh coffee beans, creamy umami--"complexity a machine-made cigar should not have".
Guantanamera Coronas Tubo Gold Edition 2023 (Cristales Mano format, gold aluminum tube, 5-stick paper box)--released in 2023. Special "Gold Edition" cigar band. "Exclusively tailored for the Asian market"--it has special meaning for players in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia!
The brand name comes from the song "Guajira Guantanamera", written in 1928 by Cuban singer Joseito Fernandez (José Fernández Díaz)--in Spanish, "Guantanamera" means "peasant girl from Guantánamo". In the 1960s, this song became popular worldwide and became a "song representing Cuba"--it is one of the few cigar brands named after a song.
For Taiwan and Chinese-language players: Guantanamera Décimos is about USD 5, and Minutos is about USD 4--a representative "coffee-time Cuban cigar". Cristales glass tube packaging has more of a gift feel. The best recommendation for friends who have "never smoked a cigar at all"--non-threatening and low-barrier.
Guantanamera cigars are machine-made at Havana's San José Factory--a "modernized machine-made factory" operated by ICT. It uses Vuelta Arriba (Remedios) tobacco--the same production area as José L. Piedra. Vuelta Arriba is Cuba's second most important tobacco-growing region.
Guantanamera cigars are all pre-cut--no cutter is needed. This is the key design for being "newbie-friendly"--very friendly for players without a cigar cutter or people smoking a cigar for the first time.
Guantanamera Décimos and Minutos are among the highest-rated choices in the category of 'machine-made cigars' -- the comment 'a complexity that machine-made cigars should not have' has circulated widely among enthusiasts. For enthusiasts studying the difference between 'machine-made vs handmade', they are considered essential to try.
Guantanamera flavor: mild to mild-medium strength--"light, gentle, and approachable". Characteristic flavors: cedar, grain, light earth, cream, light honey, umami, and a coffee finish. "Compared with traditional handmade Cuban cigars, it has less complexity, but it has consistent sweetness and roundness".
'Guajira Guantanamera' is 'Cuba's unofficial national anthem' -- in the 1960s, it was covered by Pete Seeger's The Weavers and groups such as Sandpipers, spreading it worldwide. The lyric 'I am an honest man, from where the palm tree grows' is a symbol of Cuban culture. Naming a cigar brand after this song is Habanos' tribute to Cuban culture.
Guantanamera Cristales (5.9" × 41, vitola: Cristales Mano)--another core regular production of the brand--a longer and slimmer Corona format. 5.9" × 41 ring gauge. Light cedar and lightly toasted grain--"the least over-processed Cuban flavor". More than 45 minutes of experience.
Around 2005, the brand was formally removed from the Habanos portfolio--but it continued to be produced by Internacional Cubana de Tabacos, S.A. (ICT) under Habanos authorization. This is a rare case in the cigar industry of a "brand separating from the parent company but continuing production". In practice, for players, it is still a "current Cuban cigar brand".
Guantanamera is one of the "best entry choices for Cuban cigars"--mild, pre-cut, machine-made, and inexpensive. "Lets players experience Cuban flavor without needing to spend a small loan"--comment from Germany's CigarWorld. Newbie-friendly + veterans' daily smoke--this is the core of the brand positioning.
Guantanamera and José L. Piedra both use Vuelta Arriba tobacco -- among Habanos' 27 global brands, only these 2 brands do not use Vuelta Abajo. But Piedra is handmade short filler, while Guantanamera is machine-made short filler -- a 'handmade vs machine-made' comparison pair for Vuelta Arriba within the modern Habanos system.
Joseito Fernandez (1908-1979) -- Cuban lyricist and singer who created 'Guajira Guantanamera' in 1928. He was born in Havana and was never truly 'from Guantánamo' -- but the song made the 'country girl from Guantánamo' the most famous image in Cuban music history.
U.S. trademark litigation: U.S. Guantanamera Cigars Company (Miami, Florida, registered in 1997) used the trademark in the United States earlier than Habanos. From 2001, it was in litigation with Corporación Habanos for 7 years. In early 2008, the USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) ruled in favor of Corporación Habanos -- but GCC subsequently appealed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Guantanamera Selección 2019 (15-stick box)--released in 2019 to replace the previous 13-stick selection box. Contains the brand's full range of sizes--the best way for newcomers to experience the complete flavor of Guantanamera.
After the COVID pandemic (early 2020s), global supply of handmade Cuban cigars was severely short, and prices rose sharply, but Guantanamera maintained stable supply because of machine-made production -- making it a representative example of an 'affordable Cuban cigar in the pandemic era'.
Guantanamera Puritos (slender cigarillo)--the brand's smallest format--slim cigarillo. Light leather, grain, and elegant spice--suitable for coffee time or a quick break.
Guantanamera Compay--released in 2002 and discontinued around 2016. The name "Compay" pays tribute to Compay Segundo of the Buena Vista Social Club band--another connection between the brand and Cuban music.
Guantanamera's 'pre-cut' design reflects the brand philosophy of 'removing barriers for beginners' -- no cutter is needed, and there is no need to learn cigar-cutting technique. It is especially suited to the scenario of 'giving a friend their first Cuban cigar'.
Guantanamera cigar band features: golden yellow with red and green bands, Standard Band A/B (2002-present). Special releases have additional special cigar bands (20 Aniversario, Gold Edition).

The Cigar That Became Cuba's Unofficial National Anthem
If Cohiba is the cigar of the Revolution, Trinidad is the diplomatic cigar, and Vegas Robaina is the godfather of Cuban tobacco, then Guantanamera is "the cigar that became Cuba's unofficial national anthem" - a legendary Cuban cigar brand that was the first entirely new Habanos brand of the 21st century, the only fully machine-made global Habanos, named after the Cuban cultural symbol "Guajira Guantanamera", and designed with a pre-cut head that is especially friendly to beginners.
The story begins in Havana in 1928.
"Guajira Guantanamera": The Song of 1928
The Guantanamera brand name comes from the song "Guajira Guantanamera", composed in 1928 by Cuban singer Joseito Fernandez (José Fernández Díaz, 1908-1979) - in Spanish, "Guantanamera" means "peasant girl from Guantánamo".
Fernandez was born in Havana and was never truly "from Guantánamo" - but the song made the "peasant girl from Guantánamo" one of the most famous images in Cuban music history.
The 1960s: Cuba's Unofficial National Anthem
In the 1960s, this song became popular worldwide and became "the song that represents Cuba" - promoted globally through cover versions by Pete Seeger's The Weavers and groups such as The Sandpipers.
The lyric "I am an honest man, from where the palm trees grow" is a symbol of Cuban culture. Naming a cigar brand after this song was Habanos' tribute to Cuban culture - making it one of the rare cigar brands to be "named after a song".
2002/9/14: World Debut in Dortmund
Guantanamera was officially launched by Habanos S.A. on September 14, 2002 at the "Intertabac" trade fair in Dortmund, Germany - the first entirely new Habanos brand of the 21st century.
It was made available to international markets in October of the same year.
Why Dortmund/Germany? Germany is one of Habanos' largest markets in Europe, and Intertabac is one of the most important exhibitions in the global tobacco industry - choosing this venue meant that Habanos took Guantanamera seriously as an international brand.
A Double Uniqueness: Machine-Made + Vuelta Arriba
Guantanamera is the only fully machine-made global brand in the Habanos system - all other modern Habanos cigars are handmade. Fully machine-made (mecanizado), entirely short filler, entirely Vuelta Arriba tobacco.
Guantanamera and José L. Piedra both use Vuelta Arriba tobacco - among the 27 global Habanos brands, only these 2 brands do not use Vuelta Abajo. But Piedra is handmade short filler, while Guantanamera is machine-made short filler - making them the "handmade vs machine-made" comparison pair for Vuelta Arriba within the modern Habanos system.
2005: Removed from the Habanos Portfolio
Around 2005, the brand was formally removed from the Habanos portfolio - but it continued to be produced by Internacional Cubana de Tabacos, S.A. (ICT) under Habanos authorization.
This is a rare case in the cigar industry of a "brand leaving the parent company's portfolio but continuing production". In practice, for enthusiasts, it remains a "current Cuban cigar brand".
2008: Victory in a U.S. Trademark Lawsuit
U.S. trademark litigation: The U.S. Guantanamera Cigars Company (Miami, Florida, registered in 1997) had used the trademark in the United States earlier than Habanos.
Beginning in 2001, it was involved in litigation with Corporación Habanos for as long as 7 years. In early 2008, the USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) ruled in favor of Corporación Habanos - but GCC subsequently appealed to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Flavor: Complexity a Machine-Made Cigar Should Not Have
Guantanamera is machine-made at the San José Factory in Havana - a "modernized machine-made factory" operated by ICT. It uses Vuelta Arriba (Remedios) tobacco - from the same production region as José L. Piedra. Vuelta Arriba is Cuba's second most important tobacco-growing region.
Guantanamera's flavor: mild to mild-medium in strength - "light, gentle, and approachable".
Signature flavors: cedar, grain, light earth, cream, pale honey, umami, and a coffee finish. "Compared with traditional handmade Cuban cigars, it has less complexity, but it offers consistent sweetness and roundness."
Guantanamera Décimos and Minutos are among the most highly regarded choices in the "machine-made cigar" category - the comment "complexity a machine-made cigar should not have" is widely circulated among enthusiasts.
Pre-Cut Head: A Beginner-Friendly Design
Guantanamera cigars are all pre-cut - no cutter is required.
This is the key "beginner-friendly" design - very friendly to enthusiasts who do not have a cigar cutter or to people having their first cigar.
Guantanamera's "pre-cut" design reflects the brand philosophy of "removing barriers for beginners" - no cutter is needed, and there is no need to learn cigar-cutting technique. It is especially suitable for the occasion of "giving a friend their first Cuban cigar".
Flagship Products: Lyrics Turned into Specifications
Guantanamera Décimos (4¾" × 40, vitola: Cremas) - the brand's core regular production - the name comes from the "ten-line stanzas" (décimos = ten-line verses) in the song "Guantanamera". With a Cremas ring gauge and a length close to Robusto - it is the brand's most distinctive and strongest size. A 35-45 minute experience, mild but with spice, coffee, cedar, and umami.
Guantanamera Cristales (5.9" × 41, vitola: Cristales Mano) - the brand's other core regular production - a longer and slimmer Corona format. Light cedar and lightly toasted grain - "the least over-processed Cuban flavor". An experience of more than 45 minutes.
Guantanamera Minutos (4.3" × 43, vitola: Minutos) - released in 2005, the youngest member of the brand, and the most popular among enthusiasts. Slightly shorter and thicker than other brands' long-filler Minutos. A 25-35 minute experience. Honey/caramel, light grain, fresh coffee beans, creamy umami - "complexity a machine-made cigar should not have".
Guantanamera Puritos (slender cigarillo) - the brand's smallest format - slim cigarillo. Light leather, grain, and elegant spice - suitable for coffee time or a quick break.
Discontinued: A Tribute to Compay
Guantanamera Compay - released in 2002 and discontinued around 2016. The name "Compay" pays tribute to Compay Segundo of the Buena Vista Social Club - another connection between the brand and Cuban music.
Commemorative Releases: Anniversary and Gold Edition
Guantanamera Selección 2019 (box of 15) - released in 2019 to replace the previous 13-count selection box. It includes the brand's full range of formats - the best way for beginners to experience the complete flavor profile of Guantanamera.
Guantanamera 20 Aniversario 2022 (20-count metal tin, Cristales Mano format) - a 2022 commemorative release for the brand's 20th anniversary - with a special "20 Aniversario" cigar band and plastic tubes. It is the only commemorative release in the brand's history.
Guantanamera Coronas Tubo Gold Edition 2023 (Cristales Mano format, gold aluminum tube, 5-count cardboard box) - released in 2023. Special "Gold Edition" cigar band. "Exclusively tailored for the Asian market" - of special significance to enthusiasts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia!
What the Chinese-Speaking World Should Know About Guantanamera
For Chinese-speaking enthusiasts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia:
-
The "2023 Coronas Tubo Gold Edition exclusively tailored for the Asian market" is a must-have for collection: gold aluminum tube, Gold Edition cigar band, and Asian-market exclusivity - of special significance to enthusiasts in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Malaysia.
-
A representative work as "the simplest gateway into Cuban cigars": Décimos around US$5, Minutos around US$4 - representatives of the "coffee-time Cuban cigar". Cristales in glass tubes have a stronger gift-like presentation. The best recommendation for friends who have "never had a cigar at all" - non-intimidating and low-barrier.
-
Essential appreciation for studying "machine-made cigar complexity": Décimos and Minutos are among the most highly regarded choices in the "machine-made cigar" category. The comment "complexity a machine-made cigar should not have" is widely circulated among enthusiasts - for enthusiasts studying the difference between "machine-made vs handmade", they are representative works.
-
The "2022 20 Aniversario" metal tin is collectible: the only commemorative release in the brand's history. 20-count metal tin and special cigar band - limited quantity.
-
The cultural bonus of the song "Guajira Guantanamera": For enthusiasts who love Latin music, Buena Vista Social Club, and Cuban culture - having Guantanamera is a cultural experience. Compay (discontinued) paying tribute to Compay Segundo is also a musical connection.
-
Authenticity identification: golden yellow with red and green Standard Band A/B, San José Factory stamp, and pre-cut head - all three must match for it to be genuine. Gold Edition and 20 Aniversario have special cigar bands.
-
A "stable Cuban" in the pandemic era: after COVID, handmade Cuban cigars faced global shortages and price increases - Guantanamera maintained stable supply because of machine-made production. For enthusiasts who "want an everyday Cuban but face unstable supply", it is a steady choice.
Why Guantanamera Is "The Cigar That Became Cuba's Unofficial National Anthem"
Guantanamera is not a show-off cigar. It does not have the luxurious aura of Cohiba, the mystique of Trinidad, or the forceful impact of Bolívar.
It follows a "beginner-friendly route" - pre-cut, machine-made, inexpensive, mild, and named after a song that symbolizes Cuban culture. Just like "Guajira Guantanamera", which set out from Havana in 1928 and conquered the world in the 1960s - simple, widely sung, and belonging to everyone.
For beginners, Guantanamera Décimos is the least expensive + easiest gateway into "Cuban cigars" - US$4-5, pre-cut, 35-45 minutes, mild honey and cedar.
For seasoned aficionados, Minutos is a study in "machine-made cigar complexity", Cristales is a representative of the "least over-processed Cuban", and Coronas Tubo Gold Edition 2023 is an Asian-market-exclusive must-have for collection.
For enthusiasts at the level of a Cuban factory director, Guantanamera also has three unique values:
- It is the first entirely new Habanos brand of the 21st century - a historical identity that no other cigar brand of the 21st century can match
- It is the only fully machine-made global brand in the Habanos system - the single exception among the 27 global Habanos brands
- It is a cigar named after a Cuban cultural-symbol song - "Guajira Guantanamera" is "Cuba's unofficial national anthem", and in this cultural tribute, no other cigar brand can match it
Joseito Fernandez, who wrote "Guajira Guantanamera" in Havana in 1928, probably never imagined that 74 years later (2002), his song would become a global Habanos brand. Today, every Décimos, Cristales, and Minutos with a golden yellow cigar band hums "I am an honest man, from where the palm trees grow" - the continuation of Cuban culture.
